I am so excited to introduce you to some of the artwork that I have been creating over the past eight years! My work features my journey in botanical art and scientific illustration.

My husband and I were born and raised in South Africa, but an opportunity arose for us to move to the United States. My career background is in bio-engineering research, but we took a leap of faith and moved with two children under 4 (and our two labrador retrievers). I started botanical art classes and loved the mix of scientific research and art.

Over the years, I've realized how much my botanical/nature interest has helped me through all our moves. Learning about the trees/plants/animals in my surroundings was almost like beginning to recognize familiar faces. The more that I discovered about the natural world around me, the more at home I felt.

Drawing or painting allows us to notice details in the world around us that both ground and inspire us. There is so much yet to be observed and discovered!

My artwork shows some of the interesting things that I've learnt while observing nature more closely (with perhaps a little whimsy added in, just for fun).
